Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month (LLLDAM) 2026

Celebrating 40 Years — Your Way!

April is Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month (LLLDAM), and this year is extra meaningful—we’re celebrating 40 years of community, advocacy, and progress. As we honor this milestone, we’re not just looking back. We’re inviting you to help fuel the next 40 years—in a way that’s authentic to you.

This LLLDAM, there’s no one right way to participate. We just want to see your 40.

That could mean:

  • 40 Movements—Big or Small
  • $40 Raised or Donated
  • 40 Acts of Kindness
  • The Mixed Medium Art Challenge
  • The Proclamation Challenge
  • Show Your Mettle
  • Becoming a Certified Peer Visitor (CPV)
  • Or something entirely your own.

Whether you create, move, give, advocate, or connect—your participation matters. This month is about community, creativity, and showing up in ways that reflect who you are and what you care about.

Countdown to Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month

Join the Fun: Weekly #WeTHRIVE Challenges to Inspire and Connect!

Each week in April, we’ll focus on a different theme to share stories, encourage participation, and build community:

Week 1: #ACShareYourStory #LLLDAM2026 Challenge

Week 1 invites you to share your story — how you became part of the limb loss and limb difference community, what this month means to you, and the moments that shaped your path.

Week 2: Growth & Perspective — #ThenVsNow #LLLDAM2026 Challenge

Week 2 of #LLLDAM2026 reflects on growth and perspective — both personal and collective. Over the past 40 years, the limb loss and limb difference community has grown through learning, collective action, and strength. Progress hasn’t been linear, but it has been powerful.

This week invites reflection on what has changed over time, what you’ve learned along the way, and what you wish others better understood about living with limb loss or limb difference.

Ways to participate: Share a Then vs. Now photo or reflection of your progress, growth, or change.

you, and the moments that shaped your path.

Week 3: Connection & Support — #CommunityStrong

Week 3 of #LLLDAM2026 centers the people and relationships that have carried this community forward for 40 years. Mentors, caregivers, supporters, and peer connections have shaped not only individual journeys, but the movement itself.

This week is an opportunity to recognize those who have supported your path and reflect on what community truly means to you.

Week 4: Knowledge Focus #LLLDAM2026 Challenge

Share one thing you’ve learned since joining the community. It could be a life hack, an informational fact, a mindset shift, or something you wish you had known sooner. Use #40YearsStrong #LLLDAM2026

Week 5: Legacy Focus #LLLDAM2026 Challenge

This final week is about what we carry forward — the values, lessons, and traditions built over the past 40 years that will continue to shape the future of the limb loss and limb difference community. Awareness doesn’t end with April; it continues through action, involvement, and connection.

Ways to participate this week: Share a value, lesson, or tradition you want to carry into the next 40 years.
